Fighting For Our Families' Health
All across America, the cost of healthcare is skyrocketing. In Congress, Linda will fight for comprehensive reform to make sure every American has the access to affordable, quality health care they deserve.
It is disturbing how many children in this country are lacking even the most basic healthcare. Linda was outraged when President Bush vetoed expanding SCHIP - a federal program providing healthcare to underprivileged children. She was even more incensed when the Republicans in Congress stopped the override of his veto. Linda will fight to make sure all our children have healthcare coverage.
Linda also believes that we must take proactive measures to keep our children healthy. To help parents combat the growing problem of child obesity, Linda wrote the state law prohibiting the sale or distribution of junk foods on school property. Linda fought to shield schoolchildren from ingesting or inhaling highly toxic chemicals often found in common pesticides. And she's pushed for a "Schools Chemical Cleanout Pilot Program" to provide a safer school environment free of dangerous chemicals.
Linda supports stem cell research, which she believes holds the keys to unlocking the cures for cancer, as well as spinal cord injuries, Alzheimer's, M.S., childhood diabetes and a whole host of other debilitating diseases and chronic conditions. In Congress, Linda will fight to expand stem cell research and the hope it holds for countless families.
